Type Locality and Naming

Sichuan Basin – south. Da’erdang in Sichuan Province; named by Sichuan Air Geological Survey Team, 1980, Explanatory Text for 1:200 000 Scale Geological Map: Langzhong, Deyang, Santai, Jianyang and Zigong Sheet; for a component formation within the Jiading Gr.

Synonym: Daerdan Fm, Da'erdan Fm, Da'erdang Fm


Lithology and Thickness

The Daerdan Formation (>500 m) consists of brownish-red massive sandstones with large-scale cross-bedding.
